What is a Clinical Summit?

The CAMTech Clinical Summit brings together physicians, nurses, healthcare workers, government and public health experts to identify pressing clinical needs and best practices in RMNCH care. This event serves as a pivotal activity to drive affordable medical technology innovation, including a “Technology Showcase” to preview early-stage and newly-marketed technologies that have the potential to improve healthcare.

What is a Medtech Hack-a-thon?

CAMTech’s hack-a-thons crowd-source solutions for critical clinical challenges in LMICs and foster entrepreneurship in the medtech space. Medtech hack-a-thons are two-day events that bring together engineers, clinicians, entrepreneurs and end-users to develop disruptive innovations to improve health in LMICs. Hack-a-thons provide a platform for engineers, clinicians, entrepreneurs and end-users to come together to advance knowledge-sharing across disciplines and catalyze better innovations for resource-constrained settings.

What is the CAMTech 100k Innovation Award Program?

The CAMTech Innovation Awards are part of a growing portfolio of health technologies supported by CAMTech’s mission to build entrepreneurial capacity and accelerate medical technology innovation for LMICs. Awards provide one year of research, development and/or commercialization support to a research institution, NGO, or for-profit company. Through a competitive request for proposal process, CAMTech has generated a growing pipeline of technologies that have been evaluated across public health impact, technical innovation, and commercial viability.

What is an Accelerator?

CAMTech incubates medical technologies with targeted technical assistance to identify the fastest and most viable path to commercialization. For its portfolio technologies, CAMTech provides resources and identifies partners at critical stages of medtech development. Read below for information about the new CAMTech Accelerator Program on the CAMTech Innovation Platform

CAMTech Program Launches

CAMTech Accelerator Program (CAP)

The CAMTech Accelerator Program (CAP) is a new initiative on the CAMTech Innovation Platform (CIP) that provides CIP users with robust support for early-stage global health technologies focused on improving health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. CAMTech will select three teams through a formal application process to launch a six-month pilot of CAP.
In addition to the existing expertise and resources provided through the CIP, each team will receive the following additional support to accelerate the path to commercialization:
  • CAMTech Innovation Award milestone-based funding (up to $25,000 USD) to support prototype/ product development, feasibility and design studies, and commercialization/scale up efforts.
  • A CAP Coach who will offer project management services to assist entrepreneurial teams in product development and commercialization efforts.
  • Participation in the CAMTech Accelerator Program (CAP) Cohort, which will help to publicize a team’s innovation and provide a wide range of peer-to-peer engagement opportunities.
  • Guided and customized expert match-making with CAMTech’s extensive global network of partners and collaborators to provide targeted mentorship (including ad hoc on-the-ground services depending on the country) via the CAMTech Innovation Platform.

Innovator-In-Residence Program

CAMTech is looking for its next Innovator-In-Residence (IIR)! The IIR program offers innovators and experts a valuable mentorship opportunity to help develop the medtech innovation ecosystem in Mbarara, Uganda. Mentorship builds capacity for Ugandan entrepreneurs, students and faculty, and it also provides an opportunity for IIRs to be ambassadors once they return home. Click here to learn more and apply!
